One of my favorite things about advertising is that I am constantly exposed to new perspectives including those we often overlook.
Accessibility In Advertising
Take a look at my work!
What opened my eyes…
I saw ads.
I heard different perspectives.

A Sign Of Affection is one of my favorite animes. It tells the story of Yuki, a deaf university student, falling in love with Itsuomi, a fellow college student who loves to learn new languages. As the story progresses, Itsuomi becomes more fluent in sign language and learns what challenges Yuki faces including ableism.
A Sign Of Affection
I met someone.
Shortly after moving to Richmond, I met my boyfriend.
Tyler became visually impaired when he was a kid and now works as a Senior Accessibility Specialist.
On top of going on regular dates, we also do “blind dates” where Tyler shows me how he navigates different areas of his life.
So far, he has showed me:
How to use a cane
What it’s like to be guided and how to be a good guide
How to use a screenreader
How he cooks
How he plays video games
How he navigates walking everywhere
Next, we’re tackling braille and audio description
At the beginning of my spring semester, I began taking the Visual Storytelling class and noticed a lot of advertising is very usual so I wanted to find ways to make it more accessible for people who are visually impaired.
